Bridge over the St. Louis River
|
|
|
This bridge was built in 1906 as a railroad bridge. In more recent times, the railroad has stopped using the bridge and it has been converted into a walking trail. The deck is covered with boards and the side rails have been modified for people to stop and look at the river and other great sights. This is a great asset to the community of Carlton, Minnesota.

Swarming Bugs
|

|
Driving down the road a week ago, I spot this swarming mass of some sort of bug. I turn around and go back to see if they are still there. I got a number of pictures. There were hundreds of them swarming around in several clouds like this. I found one reference to a Water Midges that sounds similar. The sun was in front of me with dark trees to give contrast. If they had been on the other side of the road I would have never spotted them.
